1. I think we had a peak period in 2009-2011 where LAN attendance was pretty high consistently.
2. I think LAN parties will exist on a smaller scale, i.e. several friends, but the whole notion of a LAN party is going to die off. Every new game requires shit online DRM that basically dictates the necessity of being online all the time, and usually comes with no LAN play, or dedicated servers that are rent only. LANs are a dying breed. I think it will evolve into a sociable online aspect where thousands can participate.
3. Basically indie games, but not really to any grand extent, which is a shame.
Overall I'm glad I was able to experience the decline of what could be considered the LAN era of PC Gaming. So many fun times were had. Although today, you can still have that sort of essence with a VOIP client and various games, it just doesn't feel the same. -
