The Bill passed!!!!

Hey everybody,

I've been working on an event that could use your support! The bill is for a Starcraft 2 event which will be hosting the CSL Finals here at UCF the first weekend of June(2nd and 3rd). We are asking for over $15,000 for the event so we could use as much support as possible. You might think that's a ridiculous amount of money to be asking, however our current budget is set for over $60,000 and will definitely be rising.

As it stands now, we have a meeting this Wednesday to decide if we are to send the bill to the Senate, which if everything goes as planned will end up being the following day. Based on the series of events that have gotten us here I feel confident that we will be in front of the Senate this week.

That's where you come in! If you can save the date for Thursday evening at 7:00 PM we will be meeting in the Key West Ballroom (Second Floor) to try and get the bill passed. The more people we have in attendance the better, so pretty please(with sugar on top) plan to attend!

Some of the results should the bill pass:

• Raise Awareness of LANKnights (There will be over 100,000 viewers on the stream)
  
• Sean "Day[9]" Plott will be attending to cast.
  
• Top SC2 Pros will be in attendance.
  
• There will be a LAN to run alongside it.
  
• Sponsors such as Tt eSPORTS will be attending.

I will edit this post on Wednesday and make an announcement in the Shoutbox to let everybody know whether or not we will be in front of the Senate this Thursday.

I will definitely be there, this is REALLY good potential PR for lanknights and could get us a lot of fresh blood. On top of that its a fricken esport finals event with lots of huge names and personalities, if this doesn't get your sc2 panties wet I don't know what will.

So could someone explain to me again why we need to raise the "Awareness" of Lanknights to 100,000 people not attending our school?

You'd be surprised how many people are starcraft fans that ATTEND UCF that don't know about lanknights or know very little about it. I went to the redbull lan at fullsail and almost all of the students there were UCF students, yet there was only a small group of people that I knew from lanknights. It would help out.

One day I ate at the market place and ended up meeting someone who did not know about us because he was watching a stream of a tournament in TL. I have also met several people who just play video games and yet do not know about us. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

tbh our advertisement sucks, if we'd just advertise the club a little more I think we could raise student awareness quite a bit.

The other problem is that our target audience only goes outside for food and mandatory classes... What happened to the good old days when you could NET SEND spam all of the campus dorms?

The meeting went well and passed unanimously, we will be in the Senate discussions tomorrow at 7:00 PM. I've been advised to bring something to keep you occupied as they have multiple things to discuss(smartphone,book,etc.)

If we showed up in person or via Skype are we expecting to say anything or is it just our presence you need? Last class ends at 2:45 PM, so I don't think I'll be staying on campus.

SC2 Starter Edition is my Blizzard RealID IM client, 13 hrs logged and zero games played

Presence. If you can show you have a large number of students behind it, it encourages them to spend the money. If they think only 10 people care, they will definitely feel it is a waste.

Hey guys,

We had a great turnout today. Thank you all for coming. The second reading was ultimately post-poned due to complications between the union and SGA. The second reading will take place same time next week. Please if you can attend, show up to help support the club with this monumental bill.

According to Event Services everything in the proposal is allowed, and we are trying to add an amendment to pay to keep the union open to midnight(like all of our other large events). We will be in the Senate Meeting again this Thursday for anybody who would like to attend. Based on the feedback from Event Services and our supporters who have helped us along the way, I strongly believe that we will have our bill passed on Thursday.
