It sucks. Save your money for Torchlight II.

from a steam conversation:
  • The overall graphics are terrible, even compared to something like Titan Quest.
Not to mention the character models are straight outta BC WoW: very polished, very low poly.
  • The writing is pretty bad. It's basically WoW's writing, not Diablo's.... I think the Diablo guys wrote the over-arching story, and all the small details were outsourced or something. The voice acting helps a bit, though.
  • If Battle.net goes down, you lose about 10-15 minutes of progress depending on the circumstance... I lost levels 3 and 4 thanks to that.

Yea, I really didn't enjoy it all to much either. I haven't had any disconnects yet, but I was playing before they recently added 100K new beta users.

Out of Monk, Wizard, and Barbarian. The Barb was the only fun class to play, simply because of his leap and that was it. :P I'm sure all the classes will change once you unlock all the action bar slots and all the spells however.

I have faith that the finished product will be an excellent game, whenever that day comes around. I have a long track record with Blizzard. I beta tested Diablo II and World of Warcraft, and their beta stages shared only a passing resemblance to the finished product. It may take some time for the game to reach its full stride, though. Diablo II wasn't the "legendary ARPG with a huge cult following" it is today before a number of patches were developed. World of Warcraft had a strong, popular launch, but it was not without its problems in its first year.

On the bright side, if D3 ends up bombing for whatever reason, then I'll finally be able to cut the cord and get some actual work done. Pretty sure it's the last PC franchise I give a shit about.
