It was brought up at the last meeting that we could possibly host our own server in certain games since we have a box that is really only running mumble. I think we should have a vote and see if everything would like having our own TF2 server, or some other game.

I for one would totally be up for looking into having a tf2 server so that we can actually get some proper weapon spread and the like going, 6v6 ideally, if at all possible.

To clarify. The Mumble server will just run Mumble. If the server slows down it kills the voice chat. There is another server with Minecraft, this is also only dedicated to that, as when people do a lot it can really slow the machine down.

We have other boxes that at some point in the future can be configured. The issue is someone has to be in charge of maintaining them, as that became an issue before.

Actually, it was more than one box, not including the one running Minecraft or the one running Mumble. Apart from possibly allocating them for game nights (whenever we do that) they should be able to host whatever we want. Go ahead and post suggestions here, and when we have a decent amount, I'll start up a thread that has a poll so we can put it to a member vote.

As server admin, Daman is responsible for that. If he doesn't do it himself he can assign it to someone. If nobody wants to do it, then the server probably isn't being used, in which case we'll just stop hosting it or change games to something people want to play.

Just for clarification, I'm still running the Minecraft server. I know at least every night there are around 4 to 6 people on it. Kinda just waiting on Bukkit to update before going to put mods back in.

I'd be willing to maintain the TF2 server. I play alot of TF2 so I wouldn't mind at all being the one to update it or do whatever needs to be done.

Yeah this is fine with me. Just noting what one of the boxes is doing, and it appears to have an active group. So all good.

I wouldn't mind a TF2 server
