1)they are not noisy
2)no PC gamer has to sacrifice anything to deal with consoles
3)the club is not officially responsible/in charge.
From what I gather some people want to change #3, and have official club consoles (gamestop etc) and some don't want consoles at all.

on the topic of fighting games, by definition you cannot play them by yourself (or if you do its rather pointless), I don't think this will be a major issue, Although I could see if you had a problem with the "stereotypical fighting game player."

I think this can be addressed by simply make rules for whats allowed, allow any game that is multiplayer, is not too loud, and doesn't have extra space requirements.
That being said, I see your side, and understand that this is #1 a PC gaming club, and that should be the focus of officers/staff.
My opinion is that we should allow a "console" type thing as an official thing, with the condition that if it becomes "too big" it will splinter off into its own club (too big in this case meaning it is capable of becoming its own entity). This will allow those interested in the console part to gauge interest in the console stuff before going off and completely forming their own club.

This. Also, I'll volunteer now to form the club when the time comes.

Already addressed this. There is no reason to "gauge interest". Gamestop has held multiple tournaments around each major game launch. Halo I think had like 30 something people at the tournament, and those that weren't at the tournament, probably 50-100, were in line to purchase the next release.
Also how can you define "too big"?
Lastly, the discussion never stated it would only be fighting games. As I stated I have seen members of anime club show up, and I shit you not, play Super Nintendo (I think Kirby?) by themselves on a TV. Now that wasn't the whole time, but still, that can be an issue. Some FPS's only do 2 players per screen for LAN, so multiple TVs would be required and networked to really do a tournament. Halo is 4 a screen, GoW3 I believe is still only 2. My point being, anything outside a fighting game tournament can instantly double or triple the setup and required gear. :/
In short, clearly there are enough console gamers to warrant a club, someone needs to just step up and do it, it shouldn't be another club's responsibility because they are too lazy. Hell you guys already have to pull teeth to get enough officers to run LANKnights, and now you want to give them more tasks that our outside the scope/purpose of the club?
Last note... prizes. Someone is going to have to spend time and effort getting prizes for console tournaments. This is time that could be spent getting prizes for PC tournaments. So there are sacrifices no matter how small you might think they are.

no the hope would be that this might be a bit of a panacea for that as well with another tap of people to draw from

While it might remedy getting more people, they would be people with a different focus for the club.

Agreed. No point in expanding the PC Gaming Club if, in the process, it ceases to be the PC Gaming Club.

There isn't a question about interest. It has been done. We have hosted events with Anime Club, where they supplied consoles. Also Gamestop has tournaments whenever they launch a new game. There is always interest. There is no reason to run a test event. Even doing that, will require marketing, and time/effort put forward promoting a console tournament, rather than finding prizes for PC tournaments, or arranging more PC events.
The question is, are the members of LANKnights interested in taking up running console events, as there doesn't seem to be a club focused on it or anyone willing to start a club.

I think the general idea of "can you guys do consoles" should be met with this response, in the future, tbh. "Start a club for it!"

Having a couple consoles at a LAN for people who enjoy both platforms is a nice break, but historically trying to make it more than that has failed, over several administrations. Take what you will from that.

Consoles will be on a BYOC (bring your own console) status to events, where consoles and games have to be approved by staff. General consensus was most games are ok, only games that are pretty much not, are rhythm games. Next lan will be a test run for this system and we will have to revote next member meeting to confirm the way in which we handle consoles.
TL;DR Consoles are fine, ask staff first, staff are not responsible for your consoles, don't be loud.

It was more than that. If a member wants to host a tournament at a LAN, and the staff okay it for space/games, then they are free to do it. If the member wants to put the event on the LAN flyers, than it'll be done. This is only for the next LAN. At the next member meeting (shortly after the next LAN) a vote will be taken to either extend the duration of that rule, or to just let it die.
