Sorry for asking you guys to play tech support. My dad recently purchased several new components for his desktop computer, assembled everything, and now we can't get to windows when we boot up. It goes to the screen where it asks you to select Safe Mode or Start Windows Normally, then flashes a blue screen very briefly before going back to the splash screen, and then asks us to select again.

Corsair GS 600 PSU
6GB Gskill DDR3-1600 RAM
i7-950 CPU
Radeon HD 4780 GPU
ASROCK x58 Extreme3 MOBO

Additionally, he's using 2 HDD's (one seagate and one western digital, connected in EIDE with the Seagate the master and WD the slave, with XP on the Seagate) and a floppy (lol). We're sort of confused, he's considering buying a new HDD, installing 7 on it (the plan is to put 7 on one of the drives and dual boot, if we have space), and then moving files over.

Thank you for any advice, and again sorry for asking you guys to play tech support.

You able to catch the error on the blue screen? If you can, paste the error code here. I personally would just go straight for a 7 install on a separate drive, then connect the other to move the files over that way. Seems to be much less of a hassle in my opinion.

Didn't quite catch an error code, saw the BS message briefly, asking to check for viruses. I'm going to try and catch it again. Will post an actual screen capture after dinner.

Reseat the RAM and the motherboard power connections.

What were the new components? The computer wasn't having this issue before they were installed, correct? Either something went wrong during the installation or one of the new parts doesn't play well with others.

Only old parts are the case, HDD's, and floppy. RAM, PSU, CPU, MOBO, GPU are new. Will try that later tonight.
