Help
A few questions about the forum. Firstly, is it normal to have a broken image icon at the top of your page near your sign-in? or is this a conflict with the image I uploaded? Also, what do the colors of the folders mean? (e.g., some folders next to topics are green while others are red, etc.)

That top image is something that IPB failed at; you have a separate image for your avatar as well as for your forum profile. That top broken image is really nothing to be concerned with as no one really sees that. The folders are essentially showing how active a topic is; dark folders have a few replies to red folders having 9001 replies.
