Hello! I do realize that using a router is against ResNet's terms of service. However, if I were to disable the wifi of my router and essentially run it as a switch (spoofing my PC's MAC address), would this be detectable and/or frowned upon? All I want to do is network my PC with my PS3 to stream movies and music to it locally over the router, and ever so often, play some PS3 games online without having to physically swap ethernet cables every time. In this situation, I would MUCH rather simply disable my PC's NIC while I was online with the PS3. Takes five seconds, instead of move the tower, unplug the cable, route it around the desk, over to the PS3, pull my back in the process, etc etc...

However, if there's actually a good reason as to why routers are forbidden in the Towers (aside from the obvious possible wifi issues/accountability,) then I'll respect the terms of service.

I can not tell you that I did not have a router to not do exactly the same thing with my xbox 360. However, this wasn't three years ago and you did not hear anything from me.

Actually, I don't think they have any issues with a switch/router operating as a switch. Their terms are consistently that they don't want you turning your single ethernet connection into multiple simultaneous connections, but they have no issue with sequential connection methods.
