I'm @ a family member's office trying to access files on his printers hard drive using mac. Trying to ftp it, any ideas?

I know this probably isn't helpful, but that kind of thing is definitely easier on a windows comp.

Have you tried to SSH into it as well? >_>

In all honesty, I dont think the default printer firmware will let you access the HDD inside the printer via any conventional protocols. I suggest you install the drivers and check if the program allows you to access the printer. Otherwise cut open the damn thing and pull the HDD out ;)

we ended up using a pc and changed the setting in the printer network options to use smb. he didn't mind not accessing the files on the hard drive, he just wanted to get the scanner to save it to a computer. so he'll just use a pc for that job. lesson learned, mac sucks! :P
