I have a several year old Dell Desktop having issues starting. After pressing power button, motherboard beeps several times over the course of about 10 seconds, does not connect to monitor. I have checked the component parts individually and I have determined that:

Power Supply is active and feeding power to other hardware including: Motherboard, RAM, Processors, DVD Drive, hard drive, front panel, Graphics card

Graphics Card get power, fan is active, temperature changes
Processors heat up
Case fans are on
DVD drive opens/runs
Motherboard lights are green
Monitor Cable is fine/adapter is fine

Any help would be amazing. Please no flaming!

I've had that happen to mine before. That happened to me when the computer wasn't able to get into the BIOS and POST correctly. Try removing the CMOS battery (or better yet, if you have a jumper that you can switch that would be better) and replace it after about 5 minutes and see if everything works correctly.

EDIT: Also, if you have another machine that you can test some of those parts in (ie; PSU, GPU, RAM), then I would certainly try that as well.

Do you have any spare RAM that would fit in that motherboard? I'm guessing its bad memory; it would be worth your time if you could swap it out with other sticks, just to see if it solves the issue.

I'll try that as soon as I can get a hold of a new battery

You don't need to replace the battery, just remove it and put it back in. Like I said, if you have a jumper on your motherboard that resets the CMOS that way, it is much easier to do. Those little batteries last forever in motherboards so you don't have to worry too much about it going dead unless you plan on using your computer for ~20 years.

Then I'll do it when I can, not there at the moment. And I'll try removing the RAM if that doesn't work.

If your ram was bad you probably wouldnt hear the beeps. That said, it wouldnt hurt to try.

Taking the battery out and keeping it out didn't fix it, might have to replace it.

Thanks guys for all your help!

It was actually my computer he was trying to help fix, I had no internet access so he had to help me out. It ended up being bad RAM and it was beeping. Removed two sticks and now it is running again, just with a little less RAM. Saved me a lot of money, thanks everyone :D

Most motherboards nowadays start beeping in a certain pattern depending on what the problem is. Check the manual and it will probably say something ;)
