Speakers are Logitech Z-640. The subwoofer works just fine, the center doesn't play. I can click "matrix" button on the center and it does simulated surround. when I try to test the sub and center in the sound settings and Realtek HD Manager, don't hear anything.

Second note, the 5.1 in "audio devices" in vlc doesn't work right sound is low and don't really hear them speaking in movies/anime.

If Matrix mode works then the problem is most likely either the cables you are using to connect the desktop to the subwoofer OR the settings you have on the realtek HD manager. I never did manage to figure out how to set all of my programs to use 5.1 so I just used the matrix mode :P
