Hey guys, I RSVP'ed for the Back to School LAN but I had some questions that weren't answered in the post about it.

1. The LAN is free of charge and open to non-UCF students, correct?

2. Where is the Student Union building, and where do we park at? The location tabs link links back to the event post.

3. Can I bring a friend along to hang out there? He won't be bringing his computer so he won't be taking any table space.

4. I can bring my vuvuzela, right? B)

The events are free to UCF students and we ask for a $5 donation from non-UCF students, however since we are nearing capacity we may be only allowing UCF students into the event. EVERYONE regardless of student status must RSVP if they are going to attend.

http://campusmap.ucf...php?select=b_52 is the location of the Student Union.

You can park in any D student lot (green), however if you do not have a permit, you will have to purchase a daily one for $5 from a machine, since this LAN is during the week. I do not know how parking will be since the event starts at Noon and there are still classes.

You can bring a friend, but we don't allow chairs to be dragged around away from someone else's spot.

Yes you can bring a vuvuzela, but please be mindful of using them (no blowing in people's faces/ears or being annoying).

Wrong; it'll cost you your sanity.

It's on the moon. Parking is also on the moon. I hope your car functions as a lunar lander. If it's not, talk to CMS; he's an intern at NASA.

NO FRIENDS ALLOWED. DON'T EVEN BECOME FRIENDS WITH LK MEMBERS. EVERYBODY MUST BE UNHAPPY ALL THE TIME.

Well, seeing as how LANs up until this point have been nothing but TF2, L4D2, HoN, single-player games, SC2, rinse, repeat...

Might as well get your downtrodden and distraught faces on.

Or you could show up and try to play some sort of worthwhile game that isn't ridiculously overplayed and can support more than eight people.

We don't have a gameslist, though. We could be playing anything!

In all seriousness, though, the recent gameslist selections have been kind of lacking (I'm really only recalling the summer lan, though). What happened to the voting system? There's no point to it if it comes in late like this; everyone just plays the standard fare, and no one benefits from the voting system supposedly "weeding out" rerun games.

It's fine with me if the system done yet, but status updates to progress ala "should be done a week before the lan" would be nice. That way we'd at least have time to discuss what to pick, otherwise it might just be better for director of activities to just make the list ahead of time.

I'm not trying to rag on tachyon for not having it done by now (matter of fact, thanks for even putting in the effort to work on it), it's just that not having it running now, and depending on it, is making this worse than before.

Can we just try creating a list by discussing it in the forums? Seem reasonable enough (or too reasonable)? Too late?

I was a fan of Brains list in the shoutbox a few days ago. Also, Plain Sight will be played, I'm sure. I think it works better when we have a schedule at the LAN. Not everyone follows it but most do, which results in most people playing the same game. I also kind of miss tournaments, even if the prize is bragging rights, it's fun.

I believe the list was as follows:

Dystopia, Neotokyo, Dawn of War 2, Red Orchestra, Plain Sight, Make Gamma Rage

That's the list I was going off of, and downloaded Dystopia, Neotokyo, and Make Gamma Rage. Not sure if I've got the current version of that last one though.

And it was, and is, a great list.

And THE list.

Red Orchestra AND DoW 2 at the same LAN? Maybe there is a heaven after all. Maybe. Infested by trolls though.

And I think both want to play with that games list.

Be forwarned on point #2, parking at UCF is a nightmare, especially at time around noon. I don't know how it will be on Friday, but it would probably be best to temporarily park in the loading dock, bring your computer up, and then spend the next 30-45 minutes finding a spot and then return to the student union.

Damn. If only we had some sort of NASA expert to help us. One who's awe-inspiring IB-AP-level mind is as flawless in technical matters of electronic equipment as it is unrivaled in organization. If we had one of those, we could probably get this done efficiently enough to avoid bottlenecks.

All right, just for the record: I am not CMS. I did not create CMS's account, and I never made a post under that username, and I certainly did not encourage or instruct anyone else to. As far as I can tell, CMS is a very real person who may or may not live in or around the UCF area. I know that his obnoxiousness made him seem like a troll, but I do not think this is the case.
