My laptop isn't againg very well so I decided I'd finally give building my own desktop a shot. I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing but this is what me and a friend came up with. http://secure.newegg...Number=15216766
I would really appreciate any advice I could get.

Nice setup.
Im selling a Corsair 450VX PSU here in the forums, which can power up your setup just fine - if you're interested in saving some money.

Decent setup, but you could probably save yourself a couple hundred bucks by going with a gfx card in the 57xx series.

You COULD save about $100 or $150 if you went with a 5770 instead of a 5850. However, if you don't mind spending the extra cash, the 5850 is a very solid choice. I'm running it now and it's been great so far.
Why the 500 GB hard drive, though? For just $20 extra you can get a 7200rpm 1 TB drive, from either Samsung ( http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822152185 ) or from Seagate ( http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822148433 ).

Thanks. Thats definitely something to consider. I'm always nervous around graphics cards because I've made some terrible decisions before. I figured I would go the extra mile for the 5850 just to play it safe.
Someone mentioned getting a CPU fan to me a while ago. I was wondering if this was really important or if the fan that comes with the i5 will be alright.

If getting a 1TB for cheap.... go for samsung... I'm RMAing my 3 month old Seagate 2TB drive already O_O.
Also, that CPU fan that comes with the CPU is good, so as long as you don't plan to OC that CPU.

I think I will go for the Samsung 1TB drive. Didn't really put much thought into it at first. Don't really plan to overclock now so I'm not going to worry about the fan then.
