Help
Since I've had this computer, I've been having issues with my RAM where I'd be unable to use all of it. Normally, it would only use 4 or 2 out of the 6 installed (right now I'm at 2). I'm not just pulling this from the Windows Experience Index, but also the task manager and bios.
Using Gskill RAM ( http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231225 ) and a Gigabyte mobo ( http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813128423 ), i7 930 processor.
I've tried loosening the heat sink, that didn't really affect things. Checked for bent socket pins and couldn't find any. I did find that a power chord was not plugged in all the way, and pushing it in further got be up to 6 consistently, but for some reason after the lan last weekend I'm back to 2 (it was 4, then 2, then 4, then 6 (!?), and now 2).
I've asked my dad about this (he's been helping me out with it), he thinks it might just be bad memory modules. Any thoughts? I'd rather not have to buy new ram right away.

Run a memtest. Also, I called NASA and they told me that it might be a bottleneck somewhere.

Don't forget that Tom's Hardware picked this motherboard as their choicest selection, so you know it's filled to the brim with amazing.
Sarcasm aside, if you think it may be your memory modules, try using one stick at a time in the board. If you get no POSTs or beeps with a single stick, set the stick to the side in a bad pile and try another.
If you are still having issues, try switching memory slots. The slots on the board could be bad.

I heard about this problem before with i7 systems and dorky ram..... try manually setting the RAM voltage, stuff like that. See if that helps any.

Kk, won't do Brain. Currently not working on memtest you didn't suggest. Then I won't test out the modules individually. My dad doesn't say that he thinks the board and memory don't not compatible. I don't think he's just not trying to get new ram for something that isn't a new computer.

EDIT: I'm unsure how to decipher this. It recognizes all 3 modules, but still says total ram is 2047 MB. Gonna check each stick alone later, probably tomorrow, set voltages if that doesn't work.
