I'm either a retard or lazy for not doing that...
Thanks though

Looking at benchmarks, the 5830 has a very very little advantage over the 5770 (many times only 2-4 fps), while the 5850 has a very large advantage over the 5770/5830.
You should do either the 5770 (save money, barely any difference in fps) or the 5850 (about 300 bucks, but a big difference from the 5770)

I'm running a 5850 in my desktop right now and I can vouch for its performance abilities. In my opinion it's the most cost-effective card on the market at this point in time.

I think I'm leaning more towards the 5850; seems like alot of them are bundled with a free copy of something, so going with that I'm paying the same for the card and also buying something extra.

Double post for the sake of the bump, and asking about this now since deals may have changed with time...
Everything, hardware-wise, is put together, and I think I'm ready to do what I have to do in the BIOS (should be fun, since I've got no real idea what anything in the mobo's manual said about it, but I wasn't reading too in depth). So the only thing left to purchase is an operating system. Windows 7 64bit, of course, still Home Premium. I'm wondering if you guys knew of any deals, besides the obvious student rate. I can find Professional for $64.95 online, but I was wondering if there was anything cheaper (that did not involve liberation). Any ideas on where I should look? My father said that he found a deal where you could get Home for $30 (I think I know of the one he's talking about, but that expired on January 3rd I thought), and I can't find anywhere where it's active.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
EDIT: ignore, already got a copy
