A High-end Desktop will cost you around $1,200(if you make it yourself), and can be upgraded later, but it's in a tower and it'll be heavy and can only stay at home.
A gaming laptop is very nice, portable, and sleek, but it's

Well, that and performance, since even the most expensive laptop cannot match the performance of a significantly cheaper desktop.

Didn't feel the need to replace the hard drive because SSD's just aren't worth it right now. It was between this or the Asus gaming laptops which cost around $1600, but I was leaning more towards the desktop because of just that: you can upgrade it later on and you can fit bigger and better parts into them.
I don't mind having to lug around the tower, its the awkwardly shaped monitors and the subsequent time spent plugging everything into the tower that is annoying. Despite this, having better parts, more future-proofness, and the satisfaction at looking at such a huge screen outweigh the "comfort" factor of a laptop. Also, having a laptop that could actually play games like Bad Company 2 would be a major distraction, as I would be tempted to bring it to class and around campus. With my major, aerospace engineering, I'll have to save the distractions until I can get back to my dorm.

Nowhere on campus but Target sells them down Alafaya by the movie theater. 4-packs of 16 oz cans run you around $6-$7.

Its a shame that Valve is porting a bunch of their games to mac, it makes trolls like these much less effective.

I was playing a game of SC2 Lost Temple the other day and my ally starts off the battle by saying to me, "Hi. This is my fist game lol. Are you on the Mac beta, too?" (Obviously there were a lot more spelling and grammar mistakes...). I said no, and that I was sorry he was a Mac user. He said "lol." I told him to barricade his entrance with a barracks and supply depots to avoid a zerg rush, since both of our enemies were zerg. Sure enough, he ignores my advice (probably because he was too busy smelling his own farts) and is overwhelmed by zerglings.
