I have an iTouch, I use iTunes mostly for the apps. But then I have to use iTunes to get music on it. I'd prefer something else, but I mean, I got this ipod for free so I'm not really complaining.

The solution is to not get an iPod ;) Plenty of perfectly good, if not better, alternate MP3 players around. Myself, I have a Creative Zen Vision-M- a bit long in the tooth now, but unlike my sister's iPod, my Zen still works just fine ;)

Sound advice that would have benefited me three years ago when I first got my iPod. Now that I'm stuck with one and can't afford to buy a new one (especially since my car supports only iPods better than any other MP3 device), I was hoping for an iTunes alternative.

Assuming you're using winamp on your computer already.

Nah, it works fine if you don't have an iphone or itouch (other iproducts should work).

That's what I had before I got my ipod. It broke like as soon as I got the ipod. Dunno what happened, just stopped turning on. Couldn't reformat, charge, transfer data, etc.

http://www.doubletwist.com/ is another good alternative to iTunes. I have yet to get around to trying them all and finding which I like the best though.

As far as anti-virus, MS Security Essentials or Avast Free Edition are good choices, with AVG a good third.
