The same reason all the parking spots were taken by 10 a.m. on the first day of class.

You seem uninformed. It isn't too many freshmen, it is too many people thinking "oh I plan to go to class every day this semester". After 3 weeks, they believe they no longer need to go.. and then finals week you will see this flood of people on campus again mainly complaining they didn't get the grade they wanted. Rinse and repeat every semester.

Nope. The answer is indeed TOO MANY FRESHMEN who seem to think it's cool to drive from their on-campus dorms to class, as well as TOO MANY SOPHOMORES who live in campus-affiliated housing that are too lazy to take the shuttle to class and instead drive

I found I was wasting about 30-45 minutes every day waiting for the shuttle. I even had shuttle drivers go a different direction from where I lived to pick up coworkers, instead of taking us home. After those kind of things I lost all faith.
For the first year so it worked fine, but having to be at work or working on projects until the last minute makes you not want to waste time waiting for a bus or having them drive you to another destination they aren't actually suppose to be going to. :(

That's why you leave half an hour early. It's OK when you need to drive yourself for extraneous things like projects and stuff, but I think it's just selfish and inconsiderate to NOT use the shuttle, waste gas AND use a parking spot because you don't feel like waiting for a few minutes. It makes it so much harder for those of us who live further away to be able to commute to school.

My name is Derek. I'm a freshman who came in during the summer session, but couldn't make the LAN party. :P
As for what I'm like, you may recognize the Dos Equis commercials with their "Most Interesting Man In the World" theme; the man in the commercials is based on me, albeit much older and bearded. And if you were wondering, I *do* peruse my private study with an owl on my shoulder. His name is Locke. His favorite food is field mice.

And I couldn't give a good goddamn about Dos Equis anyway. Could taste like cattle vomit, and judging from how often I see it (which is never) I suspect it does.

HAH, 15 seconds, surely you overestimate me sir. If I had taken that long, I would have assuredly supplied you with satire on par with such greats as Charlie Chaplin, or perhaps a one Steven Colbert, or whomever it is you children listen to these days.
