I recently have been having some monitor issues. i would be sitting here, doing whatever on my computer, and then my computer will suddenly make everything a shade of either yellow or purple. you can still see everything, its just all greatly influenced by the color. could this be a connetion problem? could this mean i need a new monitor? could this mean im going colorblind and my monitor is doing nothing and its me? (jk on the last one) it doesnt happen often.

to answer a question, NO im not doing acid....

It sounds like either a bent pin or the cable is broken inside.

Sounds exactly like a problem I had last year. Monitor would randomly turn everything a shade of red/pink. Jiggling the cable/reseating the connectors did nothing, so you're pretty much stuck getting a new monitor.

You could....but I wouldn't recommend it. I would either upgrade to a better monitor or find someone who is very good with soldering to replace the cable.

I didnt mention this before, but this isnt a monitor with detatchable cable from the back is it. If so you can replace it. If not then you will probably have to get a new one.

no its not. but i also think im saving up for a small monitor. probably a 17 inch. its just they are so expensive it seems. brents montior is nice, but a pain in the ass to lug around. mines ok too except for the prob. i think what ill do, is get a new monitor, then take this apart to learn how it is put together and shit. ive done alot of wiring before ( me and my father wired a 2.2 liter subaru legacy engine to a 1985 VW camper...what a project! also helped rebuild some wiring in our old 79 camaro)

You need to be careful doing that shit. A monitor has enough current to kill you. If there is something wrong inside it can arch out as soon as you open it. Note that it doesnt have to be on. A monitor that is unplugged and sitting off for years can still kill you. So unless you know how to properly discharge it, I would not play with it.

even with it unplugged its got a charge? thats odd. i really wanna take it apart, i would risk it.

p.s. i did find the problem, its the end of the chort where it becomes the plug in for the computer. its really loose. i may just duck tape it. ive got it sorta against the wall right now.

duck tape fixes all.

EDIT: for knowledge purpose, why does it still carry a charge?

Yes as it has some pretty hefty capacitors.
