The Google Desktop is your own private little Google server. It sits in the background, slogging through your files and folders, indexing your incoming and outgoing email messages, listening in on your instant messenger chats, and browsing the Web right along with you. Just about anything you see and summarily forget, the Google Desktop sees and memorizes for you.

has anyone used this yet...what do you think of it?!

No, it doesnt send info out to google. It indexes everything so YOU can search for it on your computer as fast as GOOGLE finds things online. WAY better than windows search. However, it takes like a gig to save the index files.

I used it for a week or so and absolutely loved it. It indexes everything (Email, AIM Logs, Documents, Pictures, etc) and lets you easily search and locate them on your hard drive using a similar logarithim that Google itself uses to search the internet.

It used some 8mb and has to be active to index the files properly so I disabled it on my gaming rig. If I had a office comptuer that was only used for word processing and email, it would definately be installed.
