Basically I have a 17in decent CRT monitor. I'm curious should i spend X amount of money and get a 17 or 19" LCD w/ fast response time or spend X amount of money on 19"+ CRT? Are there any benefits from going with either one? cost? image quality? etc? I game and do CAD stuff on my computer and like using 1280 x 768 (i'd like to use higher but my monitor stops there). thanks for the help guys. Ciao!

If you can get a really good LCD, it's going to overshadow the CRT of the same size. So i'd definatly go for a 19 inch LCD if you can afford one with strong specs. Actually, i'd probably take a really good 17 inch LCD over a 19-21 inch CRT these days.

Personally I prefer a large CRT mainly because they are cheaper with better quality for games, movies and such. The only downside is that they are really big and heavy. I've got a 19" NEC/Mitsubishi and it's pretty nice. My roommate has a 12ms LCD and that still does not come to the performance of a CRT, it just makes games a little more playable then on a 15ms LCD.

i have a 12ms LCD and i cant tell a difference except that a LCD is alot brighter.i got this LCD http://www.techforle...5NUXmg&mv_pc=45

i like it and it works great. I don't seem to understand the difference in game play. I just keep my games at native reso. which is 1280x1024 and there is no problem.

I love my LCD too. I can't image going back to CRT. So big and heavy. The overall quality of the image is better IMO. And less eye strain too. For doing CAD and video stuff, you will love the high resolution because you can have a huge working area and small icons. I and Pollux have the NEC LCD1760 and I love it. My friend got a Samsung one and that one is even better than the NEC. And less than 4 or 500 $. Can't go wrong with that.
