Ok i've been messing around with ideas for a new rig so i put together a psuedo order form on newegg and made a pic of the checkout. I am wondering what peoples Pros and cons of this setup would be, what they like dislike, what they would add/ subtract. *note* vid card not included cuz i'm using my 9800pro off my old cpu if i get new comp

Ahh, freakin utterly disgusting.

IM me and I'll point you in the *better* direction.

Both of those cases are for crap, but a case is a case.
The memory is bottom line generic.
You have an OEM processor listed, get retail or buy yourself a heatsink as you will need one.
Hard drive; buy only Western Digital or Maxtor.

I'll go on in more detail if needed.

Get the Abit NF7-S Motherboard. It's the best Athlon XP motherboard out there and certainly better than that DFI crap.

Its the company that makes the mobo u picked out. I would go for the cheap socket 939 athlon 64s (and an nforce 3 mobo), cut the 200 gig harddrives and maybe get a cheaper 250 gig from western digital or maxtor....unless u really need 400 gigs  .

Rosewill uses Samsung chips, so its not that bad if he isn't overclocking, but I do agree with Velicos on most of his points. Though, what's your beef with Seagate? Don't be cheap and spend the extra $3-4 for a LiteOn burner. Optorite is generic crap. Save money on the motherboard, the DFI isn't worth that premium when you can get an Abit NFS-7 or ASUS 87NAE Deluxe or whatever the hell the number is.

Well the thing is that the DFI board is worse than the Abit NF7-S that also happens be around $50 cheaper. You're paying an extra $50 for a crappy motherboard with big gay bright colors. However, unless u get a 2600 mobile and abit nf7-s (for overclocking), I cant recommend the XP when u can get a socket 939 athlon 64 for just a little more.

well i don't know much about the memory thing, but i do plan on overclocking in the future.... the plan is to build a computer that is bad ass now, and then a year or two later is still pretty damn good, a slight overclock with a decent cooling system to keep temps as low as possible.... And relatively inexpensive, in the $600-800 range

my old dell, is gunna have a vid card reduction, and is gunna house my vid/aud editing software

if your computer is too slow, then overclocking is not the solution. overclocking is just for people who want a slight edge in performance now. btw, do u already have a video card?

Yes it's a good brand, but you might as well go with a cheaper one u know will work in the mobo u choose to get. I wouldnt suggest ocing a brand new A64, especially if its your 1st time.

yea i deffinently wanna get the 64bit processors with the mobo's that support it.... I mean 64bit is the new thing and its only gunna get better, and apps are gunna move in the 64 bit range out of the 32 so might as well since it would just be another upgrade later down the road

EDIT: yes i'll definently confer with teague b4 i buy, plus i have to apply for a credit card, or persade my dad to be really cool and let me use his haha, i'd never bug neof you to buy that much expensive stuff for me even if i do have the cash

The only thing else I can think if is buy name brand, because they're reliable. If not, you can rma it. stick with corsair, amd, zalman, maxtor and wd liteon is still good.
edit: ASUS!!!!

DOUBLE EDIT: you might want to concider getting another zalman for your new processor, as high fourties browsing is hoooooot. (not too hot, but kinda hot)
