You're not old school unless you played over Kali.net - IPX over TCP/IP.

Your not old school unless you've not only played games over 2400 baud modem direct dialing your friends house but also played multi over a serial or parallel cable!

so i tried connecting and hl2dm said "lan servers are restirced to local clients (class c)" help???!!

hey... i've been using hamachi since it was first being developed. the "class c" address error is for half-life based games and maybe other steam games. it's caused by having the first 3 series of numbers in your ip address different from the server's. for example, if the server's address is 5.33.25.71 and yours is 5.33.25.22 you can connect. however if your address were to be 4.22.14.60 you would not be able to connect, even though you are connected through the vpn.

there is a way to modify a config file in the hamachi installing files that lets you change the first 3 series of numbers in your address, but i don't remember how to do it or if they have fixed it. i would guess that changing your ip could possibly have adverse reactions if you happen to make yours the same as someone else on the network.... anyways, my friend did it a couple years ago when we ran into this issue while trying to play some cs:s. it worked flawlessly.

my friends and i play over hamachi a lot, but mostly RTS' like AOE3 TWC, and starcraft. if you see me on there with some other people, you can send me a message through hamachi and join in.

Yeah, that's a problem with most source games. I don't think you can edit your hamachi ip address with the latest version, but I know you can with 1.0.1.5 or lower, which I recommend anyway since anything above that version is broken. When I get home I'll check and see what the option to do that is called.
