UPDATE: The VPN is down until further notice. It will be reinstated at a later time, once all of our servers are up.

Hamachi is a great program that lets you setup a LAN (VPN for those techies) over the internet. It is free and you can have up to 16 people per network. You can also join/create as many networks as you want. This program is great for people who want to have LAN games over the internet. You can download this program from http://www.hamachi.cc

Network Name: LANKnights
Password: ucf

If you have any questions please post here or contact staff@lanknights.net .

You're not old school unless you played over Kali.net - IPX over TCP/IP.

Op, how does that affect being behind routers. Like if your running the server how do people connect to you thru the dhcp.

Maybe not how, but will it. I"ll d/l it later i'm in the cs1 lab.

It is a VPN, which means it tries to connect you to a different netwok or in this case the Hamachi network. Hamachi uses network names to setup different networks.

Here is an example: I work for UCF Hospitality and lets say today I wanted to work out of my house, but I need to do some stuff that requires me to be on the UCF network. Well VPN is the solution. At my house I get online (cable, dsl, dialup, etc) then setup my computer to connect to UCF's VPN (link for UCF's VPN: http://www.noc.ucf.edu/VPN/default.htm ). Once setup and connected, I will have access to the UCF network as if I was physically there. I can browse the network shares, access servers, etc.

Hamachi does the same thing but it is setup very simple for dummies to use. So you VPN to the hamachi network and join different networks by name. So now you have a LAN, just like we do at LAN parties...only difference is that it is over the Internet!

i had created one too, completely forgot about your network. So i joined yours now. I wanna start having game nights maybe sometimes during the interum lan time.

I'd like to get a night of savage going. I can run savage, bf2 (and aircav's mod but I am not sure it is working right), css, dods, hl2dm. Tho I'll have to make a ip list for the HL based ones because for a true lan game valve wants "".""."".xx to be the same so i'll have to add them in I think. thats what I read anyway.

so what do you think worth it? and who's in if so?
