What to bring to events
-
Computer or Laptop
You've gotta play on something, so bring your rig. Your computer must be capable of playing whatever games we are going to be playing, so don't bring your old 486. Feel free to put it on the table if there is room and show off the inside to everyone. Your computer needs to have a network port so you can hook up to our network as we do not make wifi available to connect to.
-
Monitor
If you are bringing a computer you need to bring something to see it on. CRTs are allowed but please be mindful of the table space, so we ask that you bring either a CRT under 22 inches or an LCD under 30 inches. If you have a laptop, we hope it has a screen attached.
-
Surge Strip
We only provide 1 power plug per gamer so you need to bring a power strip (preferably with a surge protector built in). DO NOT, under any circumstances, bring a battery backup. Battery backups will overload our circuits and kick everyone off which does not make us happy.
-
Headphones
Since there is a room full of people gaming, speakers are not allowed. You must bring headphones for your computer. We often use voice chat in-game, so feel free to bring a headset with a microphone built in.
-
Games
If a game we are playing requires a CD, please make sure you bring one. Please also make sure your game is patched to the latest version as we may not have a file server with the patches present. We do not give out any copies of the games we play, so please make sure you have a legal and legit copy BEFORE you come to our event. Downloading the game from Steam drains our bandwidth and slows down the network for everyone.
What NOT to bring to events
-
Alcohol or Illegal Substances
All our event locations have different policies on alcohol consumption and since there will also be attendees under the drinking age, it makes it difficult for us to enforce the proper policies, so we ask that you do not bring alcohol to our events. Per them being illegal, we cannot have any illegal substances at our events either.
-
Speakers
Please do not bring speakers, they distract others from playing games and other gamers cannot hear announcements over them.
-
Battery Backups
Battery backups create too much of a drain on our power circuits. The circuits are only designed to handle a maximum number of computers otherwise they overload and knock everyone off.
-
Network Cables
No need to bring network cables, as we provide them bundled, one for each computer.
-
Warez
We do not condone nor allow warez at our events. If you are cheap enough to pirate a game that we are playing at an event, please do not come. We will not make accommodations to support non-legit copies of games at our events.
